These Pups are a Stunning Red Color
Wow, we can hardly believe it has already been a week since Charlie’s litter made their big debut. Time is flying and these little wiggle worms are growing fast.
With just five pups in the litter, everyone has plenty of space at the milk bar and they are making the most of it. From the very beginning, this group has stood out. Each puppy weighed in at an impressive 400+ grams at birth, which is nearly 100 grams heavier than any pup Ginger ever delivered. This is also our first litter of English Labradors and they are living up to their reputation with their chunky size and mellow temperament.
One week later, every pup has doubled in weight and now comes in between 800 and 900 grams. A few of them are even starting to get up on their little legs and test out their balance. Their eyes are still closed, which is totally normal at this stage. Most pups begin to open their eyes during week three. That said, they are already starting to squeak and make some noise as they begin to find their voices. It is a joyful little soundtrack of puppy chatter and we love every second of it.
One of the most striking features of this litter is their beautiful deep red coat. Photos do not quite capture just how rich and vibrant their color is in person. Each puppy has a velvety red tone that is darker than any litter we have had before. It is absolutely gorgeous and we cannot wait to see how their color develops over the coming weeks.
Charlie is doing an amazing job as a first time mama. She is calm, gentle, and completely devoted to her pups. It is so heartwarming to see how naturally she has stepped into this role.
