Frequently Asked Questions

Our Most Common Questions and Answers

We get a lot of phone calls and e-mails about our Labradors, many of them are the same or very similar questions.  Here, we have tried to answer the things we are asked most often by prospective puppy parents.  If you have a question not answered here, send us a note via our Contact Page…we would be happy to help you.

We have decided not to ship our puppies as “cargo” with the major airlines. The carriers have instituted a number of restrictions on shipping live animals and it has become very cost / time prohibitive for us. In addition, air travel in the baggage compartment of a plane is EXTREMELY stressful for the dogs. We feel it’s in the best interest of our clients and the puppies not to transport them as cargo at this time. This may change in the future and we will evaluate air shipping options annually.

That said, our out-of-state clients have flown to Denver and transported the puppy home in the passenger cabin.  This happens often and is perfectly acceptable to us and the airlines.  We will meet you at the airport and the pups are small enough at 8-weeks for a carry-on, pet carrier. They will comfortably fit under a seat in economy plus or first class (United).  Our vet will prescribe a single dose of a mild sedative (Trazadone) for the puppy which will last about 12 hours and keep them calm / quiet.  This makes the flight home more comfortable for you and the pup…it has been quite successful for us, and our clients, in the past.

In Colorado and the surrounding states, we would be willing to meet you at predetermined, public location to deliver your new puppy. Ideally, this would be a halfway point for each of us. Remote deliveries will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and should be discussed prior to making your initial deposit.  For air travel, see the question above for available options.

Updated September 2022: Previously we left that up to the individual buying a puppy. However, it’s a very simple process and best to do within 48 hours of birth. If you have a deposit on a puppy before the litter is born and don’t want the dew claws removed for some reason, we will honor that request. Otherwise, our pups will have their dew claws removed within 48 hours of whelping.

Specialized training is not part of our breeding program at this time.  However, we have several partners in the Colorado area that offer various types of dog training.  From basic obedience, to hunting, shed training or use as a service animal.  We can refer you to a trusted partner and help coordinate training for an additional fee.

We understand life happens…  Your $500 deposit is fully refundable until the puppies are born and you have electronically signed your Puppy Agreement.  At that point, we have reserved a puppy for you and have most likely turned away other potential buyers.  If you are unable to take your puppy, and it occasionally happens, the initial deposit is non-refundable because of costs we will incur to find the pup a new home.  You may roll your deposit to the next litter in case your circumstances change in the future but this will only be allowed one time.
