It’s Week 5 And They Are Responding to Basic Commands

Red Labrador puppy inside a colorful play tunnel

Hey everyone! 🌟 We’re super excited to share our week 5 update—sorry it’s a little late, but what a whirlwind week it’s been! Joel was busy teaching a class, and those adorable pups kept me busy! 🐶❤️. We haven’t had a free moment Monday through Wednesday and catching up today.

First off, amazing news—every single pup has found their forever home! A huge thank you to everyone who traveled out west to choose their furry companion. The whole process was a breeze, and it looks like everyone matched perfectly with their new family member! I feel like the right dog went to the right family based on what everyone was looking for.

Now, get ready for some cuteness overload—these little ones are growing at lightning speed! Check out the latest weights from Sunday below. Our brown puppy is on track to be a big, lovable boy! BTW, we measure them in metric units because the dosing for the Pyrantel deworming is based upon g/kg.  Easy conversion to pounds is the weight below multiplied by 2.2.

Brown – 4.3kg

Orange – 3.7kg

Purple – 3.6kg

Red – 3.6kg

Green – 3.55kg

Pink – 3.5kg

Yellow – 3.45kg

Aqua – 3.45kg

Lime – 3.4kg

All the pups are thriving! From a behavior standpoint, they’re soaking up training like sponges. Potty time is nearly at 100% with their litter box—can you believe it? In just about two weeks, we’ve almost eliminated all accidents. Just a little “piddle” here or there but for the most part, they use their box. One of the fastest litters we have had to learn this.

On top of that, they’re starting to alert us to anything out of the ordinary. When the UPS guy rings the doorbell or someone unfamiliar steps inside, they all join in with sweet little barks—perfect stranger danger warning, although I don’t know if they would eat the stranger or lick them to death at this point 🐾 It’s just too adorable…but good they are alerting on things that don’t belong.

All of the pups are a bit timid about being outside.  In all fairness to them, it’s cold and lots of construction noise in our neighborhood.  They all tend to stay together in their pack and don’t venture far from the door…but we try to get them outside to play as often as we can.

We’re also having a blast teaching them to come when called. We are using the command of “Come (name)” If you’ve shared your puppy’s name with us, we’re using it as we call them from one side of the kitchen to the other. Watching those little paws race across the room makes me giggle….  They also LOVE playing in the tunnel we have for them (photo above).

Everyone is happy and healthy, and we can hardly believe there are only 2.5 weeks left until your amazing new “furrever” friend joins your family! 🎉💖

** Note in the photos below, yellow puppy has a new collar from her mom.  It’s a pretty peach / orange color so don’t confuse her with the orange puppy :-)
