Week 6 Has Arrived With Some New Collar Bling To Show Off

Three red Labrador puppies sleeping together on blanket.

Week 6 has arrived, and we’ve hit some fantastic milestones to celebrate! 🎉 First off, I hope you enjoy the adorable Halloween puppy photos! Everyone posed like little models, and it’s much easier to photograph them as they get older. If you have little ones dressing up this week, I wish you a spook-tacular time on Thursday!

Now, let’s dive into our pups’ exciting developments! They’ve officially made the leap from soft food to crunchy dry puppy food—what a big step! All of them have a full set of puppy teeth and they absolutely love meal time. We’ll keep feeding them four times a day until they come home to you. At 8 weeks, you’ll transition to three meals a day and start keeping an eye on their weight, which is crucial for ensuring they’re getting the right amount of food and calories.

And here’s a fun update on potty training! We hit an incredible 100% success rate in the litter box for a few days, and now we’re taking them outside for their potty breaks. We’re currently at a 50/50 success rate outside…some of them aren’t sure why they are out there but they are slowly adapting to this new adventure. It’s a big change and we will continue to work on progress.

Speaking of going outside…we’re making great strides in getting them used to the outdoors. Each day, they grow braver and venture a bit further from the house. However, with colder and rainier weather for us coming Tuesday, we hope the pups stay brave and don’t get spooked! 🌧️

Week six doses of Pyrantel were given today, and they will receive one more dose at week eight. Everyone always wants to know their weights, so here are the results from the weekly weigh-in on Sunday:

Brown – 5.1kg (he’s gonna be a big boy)
Red – 4.55kg
Purple – 4.4kg
Green – 4.4kg
Orange – 4.35kg
Yellow – 4.2kg
Pink – 4.15kg
Lime – 4.1kg
Aqua – 4.0kg

Brown puppy is still 600 grams heavier than the next closest sibling. A few have moved up and down the leaderboard, but with the exception of Brown, the rest of the pups are very close in weight, with the females tending to be lighter. Everyone looks really good and their development is right on schedule.

Finally, we’ve started transitioning them to “big dog” collars! They’ve all outgrown their velcro whelping collars, and a few of the new collars are late arriving. By the time we take our Week 7 photos, all the pups will look fabulous in their new fashion accessories. Week 7 will be our last pupdate for this litter! They will all go home the following weekend!
